OVERVIEW
The State of Texas wanted to ensure that all Texans can pursue a degree or credential that propels them to lasting, successful careers. To help achieve this goal, we designed a platform that would allow Texans to chart their own educational journeys, regardless of age or life stage.

ROLE
I worked as the Senior UI Designer on the team spearheading development of final mockups and prototypes, leading UI & UX team members, and guiding illustration style.

OUTCOME
Empowered with a platform that is both approachable and powerful, Texans of all ages and educational backgrounds can now explore their futures and the State is on track to meeting its ambitious goals.
UI Design
Planning for the future can be scary, especially when classes, tests, and applications are involved. Our approach to MyTexasFuture’s UI design acknowledged this reality and prioritized creating a fun, laid back interface while remaining simple and clear.
Through the stages of design system development, mockup creation, and prototyping, the team maintained its focus on creating interfaces that sparked joy and felt approachable, regardless of where a user was in the educational journey.
Illustration & Motion Design
Inspired by the visual language of school art classes—collage, doodles, stickers—I led the team in developing an illustration style for the site. This style allowed us to create illustrations which helped the site feel approachable, but also often served to guide user interaction and provide additional information about site contents.
I further developed this playful, unstudied style with exploration of motion graphics to advertise the platform. These animations reinforced the idea of approachability with humanistic touches to the motion of elements.
